"Be ruthless to systems. Be kind to people". -Michael Brooks
I love being a part of this community. I have posted drawings in pencil, sculptures in clay, sculptures composited into digital paintings, digital sculptures, fully digital paintings, digital paintings that use 3d and photo bashing, as well as raw AI image outputs, and those that have been modified to varying extents. This image was created to be part of the series of roughly 30 images covering a 10 page span of my favourite novel, Red Mars. For this project I planned to use Midjourney image outputs, heavily modified with both digital paint and possibly 3d.
Honest good faith question upcoming.
How much does someone have to change an ai generated image or images before it becomes 'art' or atleast 'a concept' that is acceptable to post on artstation? is it forever tainted as long as a solitary ai generated pixel remains? Do modified images have a place on Artstation at all? if so how much should they be modified? has this image been modified enough?
If no artists/cinematographers/directors/etc names are used in a prompt, is this considered less problematic? (no artists name were used in these prompts, if that helps).
Second, I posted a detailed breakdown in order to show the strengths and weaknesses of Midjourney/Stable/whichever, and to be honest about how I got from point A to point B. I am not trying to mislead anyone, and have tried to make my process as clear as possible.
Cheers.
